Metallic Luer Connectors

Metal luer - One of several connector types available with our microfluidic chips and flow cells

At the request of some of our customers, and on a custom basis, we now offer microfluidic chips and flow cells equipped with Luer connectors made out of metal (nickel plated brass).

Luer connectors made out of polymer (Nylon or polycarbonate), which are widely used for microfluidic and biomedical applications, are designed to operate at relatively low-pressures. They will deform and leak at high-pressures. If your application calls for pressure exceeding 60 psi (approximately 4 atm or 0.4 MPa), you may want to consider specifying Nanoport connectors (offered on a standard basis) or metallic luers (offered on a custom basis). Some of our customers have used Translume flow cells equipped with metal luers at temperatures of up to 200 °C.
