The majority of our customers order glass microfluidic chips and flow cells with fluid connectors factory-installed. One of the standard fluid connectors that we offer is the Nanoport™ connector, fabricated by Upchurch Scientific. (If you prefer, not to have fluid connectors, Translume can provide you with that service, as well.)
Nanoport connectors are made of inert, bio-compatible PEEK (Polyetheretherketone) and perfluoroelastomer polymers. PEEK has excellent chemical resistance to many commonly used solvents, including water, isopropanol, methanol, and acetone. However, according to the original manufacturer, the following solvents should not be used with PEEK: nitric acid; sulfuric acid; halogenated acids, methylene chloride, THF, DMSO, and halogenated gases.
The model N333 connector is comprised of three elements: (1) a head piece, (2) a cone-shaped ferrule, and (3) a base. This assembly is designed to be used with 1/16" OD tubing (1.59 mm). The tubing is held in place by the ferrule when the head piece is hand-tightened. It is recommended that this assembly be used with PEEK tubing.
Note that the N333 connectors can also be used with 1/32” OD and 360-micron OD tubing, using IDEX adapter sleeve kits (provided with each Translume’s device equipped with N333).
